The Brothers Grimm, Jacob (1785–1863) and Wilhelm (1786–1859), set out to collect and preserve authentic folktales of their Germanic culture. Later they published and improved them over seven editions.

Frances Browne, poet and novelist, was blind from the age of eighteen months. She is best known for her collection of children's stories.
